Reality: For the right type of work, HP digital printing is less expensive. Variables include: Run Length, Size, Number of Colors, Number of SKUs, etc.

Myth: Digital is just a complement to Flexo printing.
Reality: Flexo is viable for extreme lengths however, the HP Indigo WS6000 changes the game for doing longer runs digitally. With a very productive “repeat” capability of a 38.7” and the ability to run at 97 FPM, many companies are choosing to run high volume printing digitally because of the additional benefits.

Myth: Digital Printing is only effective for extremely short runs and prototypes.
Reality: More than 60% of all label jobs produced Wide Web can be manufactured as or more efficiently on an HP Indigo press. Secondly, more SKU’s, market demographics, time to market, event and regionalized product strategies create a perfect dynamic for digital.

Myth: Digital presses cannot print PMS or Designer inks.
Reality: A unique advantage of HP Indigo presses is the ability to print a specific mixed “spot” color with extreme precision! HP Indigo’s large color gamut have the ability to match PMS and designer based colors (using builds) typically under 3 denta E variance or better. When printing extended gamut IndiChrome, the color variance is even tighter!

Myth: Digital presses cannot print metallic inks.
Reality: This is true, but with HP Indigo’s unique 7 color process that includes white, we have solved metallic requests by printing on metallic substrates and have achieved eye popping effects! In addition, we can produce complex constructions and multi-print process solutions to address extreme requirements.

Myth: Flexographic presses produce better quality than digital presses.
Reality: The HP Indigo process prints excellent halftones and has near perfect ink-over-ink trapping and registration, allowing for far less colors required to achieve the same effect in the flexographic process.
